Family You Choose
We call it the #familyyouchoose It’s been said that you become the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
Seth Godin says, “One of the most powerful of our survival mechanisms is to be part of a tribe, to contribute to (and take from) a group of like-minded people. We are drawn to leaders and to their ideas, and we can’t resist the rush of belonging and the thrill of the new.”
What did I miss most during the Quarantine? Was it the weights, the smell of sweat or was it those smiling faces that accept you for who you are Coaches and athletes alike
While we’re not out of this pandemic yet, most of our athletes have come back. One of the great things about being a smaller gym is we can control the number of athletes that come in and out. We are better equipped to keep the workout space safe and clean. How cool was it when we reopened and you got to see your family again. Smiles, Smiles and Smiles.
The online classes worked but there is nothing like being there in person. The energy is palpable. It’s loud and your fellow athletes are pushing you to do one more rep or go a little faster. Nothing makes me smile more than watching the last athlete finish and his/her family surrounds them and cheers them to the end. And then the icing on the cake is the fist bump
There’s something incredibly special about a group of people that suffer and sweat together.
Familes of all kinds are important because:
-Life can be hard. You will not reach all of your goals. You may want to quit. You’ll want the support of the #familyyouchoose.
-There will be things when you know you need to do something but you don’t want to. You’re going to need people to believe in you more than you believe in yourself at those moments.
-There are people that care about what you have to say. They accept you for who you are. You need to find them.
Go find yours.
